Working for health and dignity through education

Our mission is to teach empower  support  connect listen equip connect

The Health Impact works to enhance the daily health, quality of life, dignity, and autonomy of vulnerable families in Lebanon through health promotion workshops, psychosocial support programming, and hygiene supply support.

Our educational workshops cover the topics and concerns most important to the community including first aid, chronic illnesses, medical emergencies, women’s health, children's wellness, vaccines, stigma, mental health, and personal health advocacy. Additionally we work to connect families to needed services and community resources such as medical clinics, pharmacies, legal support, and others.

ABOUT US

TheHealthImpact is a Spanish non-profit organization that was created in response to the dire health situation of Syrian refugees living in Lebanon. Founded in February, 2020, TheHealthImpact works to confront the limited access to healthcare and information that is available to vulnerable families. Through educational programs, material distributions, community referrals, and a continual effort to improve services and courses based on feedback from the community, The Health Impact has grown to become an essential point of contact to families seeking health information and resources.

OUR PROJECTS

Health Promotion

Our health promotion workshops cover a variety of topics, selected based on the needs of the community. Classes include discussions on first aid, chronic illness, vaccines, medical emergencies, women’s health, stigma in the community, child protection, children’s health, mental health and more. Each family that attends our workshops is also provided with connections and resources for further community services if they are required.

Supply Distribution

Every family in our local community, both from the refugee and host communities are invited to visit our Hygiene Free Shop following our health promotion class. In this shop, families get the freedom to decide what they want to take home. People choose from shelves filled with more than 30 different products including cleaning supplies, hygiene products, accessories, and more.

Advocacy

Through our broad social media reach, appearances in international media, blog, and Spanish language podcast, we work to advocate for the protection and respect of refugee rights worldwide. We aim to educate people on the current situations refugees are facing, as well as on the harmful laws and practices of governments around the world.
